Websites and Blogs
Maintaining an online presence is not just a convenient way to share information or promote yourself and your products. It is a vital method of communication and connection to your local community and the greater online world and, for some, may be the only interaction they ever have with you. Positive social media campaigns can help to generate earned media and what better way is there for a public service to be promoted than by the public it supports?
I have a decade of experience creating websites and blogs and using social media tactics as a community engagement tools as well as a promotional tools. Like always, I strive to best serve my customer by providing high quality material in a streamlined, easy-to-use, and visually appealing format.

Kristine's Delftwear
http://KristinesDelftwear.blogspot.com
After studying abroad in Amsterdam (Summer 2012) for LIS 570 Research, Assessment, and Design, we were asked to creative a reflection project. Perhaps not surprisingly given my focus on customer service, what struck me most about the Dutch is the extent to which their products are focused on the end user, their customer. I combined my thoughts about my experience in the Netherlands with one of my hobbies -- knitting -- and designed a pair of fingerless mittens. The mittens were designed with both the knitter and the wearer in mind; for example, they are constructed in the round for the convenience of the knitter and the colorwork is a technique called Fair Isle or stranding for extra warmth on the hands. On this blog, the design and construction process is detailed, the pattern is available (also available on Ravelry, an online knitting community), as well as an essay about the project and my reflections from the trip.
